1. IS THIS SITE SECURE?
Security is paramount to WEBVFX. We are hosted exclusively on SohoNet's internationally renowned network.
SohoNet is inherently secure with the addition of many layers of security, monitoring, diagnostics and intrusion detection systems.
For more information, please see www.sohonet.co.uk. Your full resolution data is placed on our hidden servers. Not within the website.
These servers are based in the SohoNet building, and are only ever accessed by you and the individual
artist retrieving the data via an encoded link. The same process is repeated upon delivery of a final shot.
No one else has access to this data and thus makes WEBVFX as secure as any other traditional facility.
2. HOW DO YOU ENSURE QUALITY?
All of our artists are personally invited to join WEBVFX, have worked with the site Producers previously
and must have held a 2D lead or 2D Supervisor position at facility level as the absolute minimum requirement. However, many of our artists
have worked as VFX Supervisors for facilities or as the overall VFX Supervisor directly on Feature Productions all over the world.
They represent the highest level of 2D visual effects artist London has to offer. The type of work we offer to complete through the site will
not be challenging to these artists and mean a quick turnaround with a minimal number of revisions.
3. WHY IS WEBVFX SO MUCH CHEAPER THAN OTHER VFX COMPANIES?
Being online we have minimal overheads. There is no rent, no machine room, no receptionist, and no leather couches to add to the shot cost. The software and hardware is provided by the artist and the fee is for the time it takes to complete the work through WEBVFX, not bid on a daily rate.
WEBVFX does not employ artists and thus does not have to cover the associated costs even when they are not working on any shots.
4. IS THE SITE CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes. information is not passed on to a third party outside of the named business partners already associated with WEBVFX. The only people seeing your work are the administrators of the site and the artists.
All artists are legally contracted and cleared for copyright, ownership & confidentiality.
5. WHAT IF I HAVE A SEQUENCE OR A LARGER AND MORE COMPLEX BODY OF WORK
Like any other business, we can offer discounts based on a volume of work. The criteria considered covers the type, complexity and schedule of the project. If the work is more complex and you feel may need closer supervision, this can be achieved using our usual price structure, though details may need to be briefly discussed. Please mail us at producer@webvfx.com for further details.
6. HOW ARE PAYMENTS MADE?
Once you are registered with WEBVFX you can upload your shots and generate a quote which is sent to you and the person approving the spend on behalf of the Production. Once approved, you will submit a Purchase Order simply stating the shot numbers and quote reference. The payment structure is 50% on upload of the Quicktime reference and full res. data (to be paid via wire within 3 working days) and the second 50% is required within 5 working days of final approval of the last shot on the quote.
7. WON'T THERE BE A LOT OF WAITING WHILE CONTRACTS ARE AGREED?
Our legal partner, Sara Curran (www.imdb.com/name/nm1282785/), has extensive international Film and TV legal experience and of working with studios, production companies and post-production facilities having spent 7 years as head of legal and business affairs at Polygram, Universal and Working Title Films She has constructed our contracts to ensure security, copyright and contractual clearances are all satisfied via the contract on the site. If, however, you require a different contract to be submitted by yourselves, we would need to review as quickly as possible.
8. HOW DOES THE SITE BACK UP THE WORK IN PROGRESS AND DELIVERED SHOTS?
All data on our servers and database are mirrored on a hidden, secure sever, again hosted on the SohoNet Network. If our servers were to be fatally damaged, our site would continue to run with hardly any noticeable disruption to the server. As you are supplying the original files there is no need for us to back them up, we do save the scripts used in completing the work and the database entries for reference in the future.
1. I'M NOT SURE HOW TO PRICE MY WORK?
Our unique pricing mechanism takes seconds to price a shot. The 'step by step' bidding page asks specific questions about your shot and prompts you with answers. Shots are then easily and quickly priced. However, if you have little experience of visual effects or are not sure which categories the shot would fall under, we would be more than happy to price the shot for you
2. CAN I GET A QUOTE BEFORE I SUBMIT MY WORK?
Once you have registered your production online and you have received your confirmation email, you can upload the individual shot details (name, length, description of work, you do not have to upload QTs at this point) and generate a price. This will be displayed to you as a quote and emailed to you and whoever approves your budget.
3. HOW SOON WILL THE WORK BE STARTED?
Once you're registered, the reference Quick Time and full resolution data are uploaded to the secure server, and the quote has been approved, the shot can be downloaded and started by the artist. Depending on the level of complexity required in the shot, you could have a completed shot back on the same day.
4. HOW SOON CAN MY HOW CAN I BE SURE THE WORK WILL BE COMPLETED IN TIME?
Work is only ever accepted when there is an artist available to take on the work within the parameters set by you. i.e. the delivery date. The quality of the artist ensures that they will not take on work beyond their ability. The site is also monitored by the WEBVFX Producers, who ensure shot delivery.
5. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETE MY WORK?
When uploading the shots, you determine the delivery date. The artist accepts the work based on this delivery date. If it's imperative the work is completed within a short space of time, for a screening for example, and it's a large volume, you have the ability to contact us to oversee its completion.
6. WHAT IF I FEEL THE WORK IS NOT BEING DONE TO MY SATISFACTION?
Like all facilities you have the ability to talk to someone directly and, unusually for a web based company, face to face. Our 'Resolution Centre' facility puts you in touch with the WEBVFX Producers who are more than happy to step in and resolve any issues, should they arise.
7. HOW DO I REVIEW THE WORK?
Once the artist has a version ready for you to look at, a video resolution Quick Time will be posted into our secure online review area. Comments can be made here with the tools available, even drawing on the image frame by frame if required. It's ultra simple to use. The artist and the WEBVFX Producers will be notified when a comment is made. The movie can be downloaded from here and dropped into your cut as it will the same format you delivered initially as reference. If you would like to see a larger resolution QT then you'll be directed to a secure server where it will be waiting for you to download. Comments can be made on this version will be made on the video resolution QT in our review area.
8. HOW DO I APPROVE THE WORK?
Once approved as a high resolution QT, you can then download the final full resolution files and review via your own production, either by recording the shot to film or dropping into you D.I. facility. If you do not have access to a film recording company or a DI suite/screening room, we would be more than happy to arrange one for you. This should be highlighted at the earliest possible opportunity.
